Apatite – calcium phosphate, created through organic materials. Index of 5 on the Mohs Scale. Large deposits of apatite can be found in Russia, Canada, the United States, Norway, and Sri Lanka. The largest apatite was found in Quebec, weighing a staggering 5 tons. Hidroxapatites are used on a large scale in medicine and especially in dentistry, since this form is the basis of the mineral composition of teeth and bones. Recently, hematite deposits have been identified on Mars.
Onyx – onyx is a form of chalcedony, a cryptocrystalline form of quartz with dense, fibrous layers of minerals. Index of 7 on the Mohs scale. Onyx is extracted from Brazil, Canada, Mexico, India, Russia, South Africa and the United States. It is said that onyx provides protection from negativity, its black color representing the negative emotions it absorbs from its surroundings.
