The Ocean Depths Bracelet is handcrafted from 6 mm lapis lazuli, 6 mm Greek onyx, hematite discs, and bound with silver. This handmade accessory pairs well with summer outfits and formal or informal day wear.
Lapis lazuli – also known as the ‘starry sky’ stone, lapis lazuli is a compact stone with a fantastic display of blueish hues. Its toughness index on the Mohs scale is between 5 and 5.5. Lapis lazuli usually contains tiny pyrite particles. It is usually extracted from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Italy, Chile and Colorado. In Ancient Egypt, lapis lazuli was usually considered to be the ‘stone of pharaohs’.
Hematite – the term ‘hematite’ originates from the Ancient Greek ‘aima’, translated as blood. It is one of the most important minerals due to its iron content, and it is a product of volcanic processes. Index of 5.5 – 6.2 on the Mohs scale. Significant amount of hematite are found on the isle of Elba, which have been exploited even by the Etruscan inhabitants. Nowadays, hematite is also found in Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Recently, hematite deposits have been identified on Mars.
Onyx – onyx is a form of chalcedony, a cryptocrystalline form of quartz with dense, fibrous layers of minerals. Index of 7 on the Mohs scale. Onyx is extracted from Brazil, Canada, Mexico, India, Russia, South Africa and the United States. It is said that onyx provides protection from negativity, its black color representing the negative emotions it absorbs from its surroundings.
